Whether you're a rope dropper or a casual park day stroller, there are many ways you can plan your day at Hollywood Studios. There are many variables at work like who you're going with, what time you want to get there, how far you can plan ahead, etc. One of the cool things on the My Disney Experience app that I found was that you could create a reminder for a particular entertainment activity, such as the Indiana Jones Stunt show, Fantasmic and the Star Wars fireworks show. That way you can remember what time each event is to schedule other activities around it.
Recently, my boyfriend Jon and I went to Hollywood Studios and had the best time! I am a hardcore planner so I made fast passes for Star Tours, Toy Story Midway Mania and Rock 'n' Roller coaster. The first thing we did when we got to the parks at 10:30 a.m. was walk around and let him get a lay of the land on the way to meeting one of my friends by Star Tours. Then we got one of the mystery retro Star Wars pin boxes because the mystery pins are so fun to me. After that, we ate a brunchy snack at Baseline Tap house of the charcuterie board and the giant pretzel around 11:15 a.m. The charcuterie board was amazing and we mixed and matched all the ingredients with the pretzel and dipping sauces too.
Next we decided to attempt stand-by for Slinky Dog at around 11:45 a.m. The line said 90 minutes, but it really only took about an hour, which was great. Then at around 1 p.m. we went over to the Incredibles area and got the Key Lime Pie on a stick and the Num Num cookie, which was a LOT of sugar for us, and we split both (after taking Insta pics of course). Favorite quote of the day: [while Jon was dragging me through the crowd] me: "Be gentle, I'm full of cookie".
Then we had some time to kill before the Indiana Jones show so we looked in all of the stores and wandered around until about 2:45 for the 3:15 show. I really don't think you need a fastpass for this or any of the show-type of attractions because we had perfectly fine seats without them. Then we went to our Star Tours fastpass and then met up with my friend again and had some drinks from Anaheim Produce and people-watched as we caught up.
Then we went to Toy Story Midway Mania and I almost won, but we don't really need to talk about that. Then we walked around the area near Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller coaster and went to the Tower of Terror gift shop. Falling isn't really my thing, so we definitely skipped TOT, but the gift shop is really cute. Also fun fact: you can get a Hollywood Tower Hotel embroidered bathrobe for only $75 wow! Rock 'n' Roller coaster was amazing as per usual. Then we took pictures in front of the Chinese theater and down in the middle of the front entrance with Disney's Photopass magicians as well as cheesy selfies.
We felt like we didn't want the classic burger and hot dog kind of dinner, so we hit up the food trucks (and Uniqlo) at Disney Springs. We had the fish tacos, veggie bowl and split the shrimp and lobster mac and cheese which was insane.
Overall, it was one of the best Disney days I've ever had, if not the best. I think it has a little something to do with who you go with....
